"along the railroad." Doetinchem, Holland.

This is one of the funny bike paths in my hometown,
there are lots of these little paths along railroads or along
farm fields or little streams, it's giving great painting opportunities
because the little paths always meandering a bit which gives
great compositions.

"Snow shoveling." Doetinchem, Holland.

This is the mean cause of my muscle ache,
luckily it's on my right side so I still can paint a little.

For all I know living on a street corner has one downside, ...
a LOT of snow shoveling!!

"Monet`s winter garden" Doetinchem, Holland.

Finally little bit of sunshine on this side of Holland.

Together with snow it's just what a painter would wish for,
let alone to know this little spot which does reminds me
so much of that lovely winter painting from Monet.

If only I had a blackbird, could buy one from plastic tho.

Just got some paintings back from Ireland, and although
I showed most of them this one I didn't, ... it was the last one I made over there,
waiting for the shop of Tony and Trish (TNT :-))  to open.

Snow !! Again.

A very cold but beautiful day, if only the skate-tracks where open.

Although I said I would stick to the bigbrush this week I couldn't
experiment on the snow with it, there isn't just that much snowy
days here in Holland.

1½ inch brush Doetinchem, Holland.

So Peter here you go, ... it isn't that easy I have to say,
especially to clean the brush all the time, it takes gallons of turp!!
But it's great fun, I think I am gone stick to it for this week.
It also reduces your brushes enormoulsy!!

Thanks for you lovely posting. > over there <

"De Volharding." Doetinchem, Holland.

Although I promised Peter Yesis to paint with a large
brush I couldn't manege it with this little vessel, but I
got rewarded with my nautghynes cause it was sold immediatly
by the people which where the owners of this little schip.

"Walmolen Doetinchem." Doetinchem, Holland.

It's getting colder, they even talk about skating weather next
week. For people who don't live in Holland, the Dutch go nuts
when it's skating weather! Me too but more for painting them ;-)

This is one of the main features here in Doetinchem, the large
rampart windmill to translate is roughly.

Grey, grey, grey and some grey with grey.

Although Richard Schmid once told he liked grey weather because
the light is just what you need as a plein air painter, cool with a colour
perspective just as it should be and lots of time because the light isn't
changing that much, ... he right about it all the way except that after
a few days (I'll reckon a week now) it's becoming very VERY dull,
no contrast now sparkle no nothing just grey light, ....

Ow well it's good practice.

"Grey world." Westervoort, Holland.

Forgot my turp today, which isn't that convenient when
painting in the floodplains of the Rhine, especially not when
you should have cleaned your palette a long time ago.
But it's a nice practice on the other hand, to paint thicker
letting the paint do it's work and shape your brush the way
you want. Together with the fact that it was still quite an
high tide (all melt- and rainwater from Germany) and being
in the place where I lived for more then 20 years it was
just a lovely time.

"Grey path." Doetinchem, Holland.

Somehow I like those grey days, together with lots of rain
it tends to get very VERY soaking wet around here which
causes lots of reflections in these kinds of pathways, ...

My bike is thinking completely different about this I'll guess.

the other thing I like to experiment with now a days it the
vertical size, its still the same size but it looks more evident.

"Grijs pad." Doetinchem, Holland.
